I am the historian of the World War II era battleship USS West Virginia (BB-48).
I spend a large amount of time collecting written and oral histories from those
who served aboard the ship. I am active within the reunion association and
I attend the annual reunions across the country. People
often ask me if I get paid to do this work. No, I do not get paid, it
actually costs me a lot of money to do it. Reunions and other historical trips have taken me to:
2000 - Washington, DC; Charleston, SC; New Orleans, LA; St.
Louis, MO
2001 - Pearl Harbor, Hawaii
2002 - Corpus Christi, San Antonio, Fredericksburg, Austin and Houston, TX
2003 - Houston, TX; Boston, MA
2004 - Tucson, AZ; Las Vegas, NV (Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon)
2005 - Valley Forge, PA; Washington, DC; San Antonio, TX.
2006 - Rome, NY
2007 - Myrtle Beach, SC, Charleston, SC, Wilmington, NC, Charleston, WV
2008 - Colorado Springs, CO, Beckley, WV
2009 - Washington, DC, Beckley, WV, Charleston, SC
2010 - Spokane, WA
2011 - Galveston, TX

SCUBA
I've been involved in SCUBA instruction for about the last seven years (the last
four as an instructor). Teaching SCUBA is fun, but incredibly time
consuming; therefore, no more SCUBA for a while (at least not teaching).
The following is a list of places I've been:
2001 - Oahu, Hawaii
2002 - West Palm Beach, Florida
2003 - Cozumel, Mexico and Key Largo, Florida
2004 - Bonaire, Netherlands Antilles and Dutch Springs, Pennsylvania
2005 - Courmayeur, Italy (skiing); Las
Vegas, NV; Dutch Springs, PA; Key Largo, FL
2006 - Key Largo, FL; Pittsburgh, PA (to get married); Myrtle Beach, SC; Antigua.
2007 - Key Largo and Miami Beach, FL, Orlando, FL and Bahamas.
(Not all of my exotic vacations are for SCUBA. Checkout http://www.theworldtour.org )
Krispy Kreme
Famous side trips. Whenever I take a trip I try to map out where the
nearest Krispy Kreme Doughnut shops are and I pay them a visit. I've lost count but I've been to at
least 12 Krispy Kreme shops in the US. At least 3 of the visits were for
the grand opening (and I have the T-shirt to prove it).

This is just a stress reliever
